I am 82 years old and am diabetic. Can I eat a Mango once a week or it is absolutely prohibited. I have been so far avoiding it.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. If your diabetes is in very good control, with FBG<100 mg, PP 160 to 180 mg & HbA1c % between 7 to 7.5, you can eat one or two pieces of mango once a while. But do not consume a whole mango at one go. Because that will give a lot of sugar. You are aware mango, chikkoo, grapes and banana are usually to be avoided as they tend to increase blood glucose very rapidly, hence are considered not good for a diabetic person. But eating a small piece once a while is not likely to cause any serious issue. Thanks.

If diabetes is in control you can have it! If you feel that sugar is increasing than stop it! Once a week is ok.
