Dear lybrate-user, Psychiatrist is a person who has done it MD in psychiatric medicine, where as psychologist is a person who is not specialized in medicine but in the psychological intervention for the problem. Yes both of them treat depression. Psychiatrist deal with the neurobiological pass of it by giving you right dosage of medication, where as a psychologist treats you for your clouded cognition and associated behavioural problems. Hope it helps. Regards
