Hi, My wife is 64 yrs. She is diabetic for the past 15 years and sugar is under control. She also takes one tablet (Telma) for BP. We monitor her BP and sugar regularly. While taking BP readings sometimes the monitor indicates" irregular heart beat detected" Please tell us what exactly it means/indicates. Is there blockade etc. Her recent ECG and Lipid profile were normal. (KS Ludu)

Thanks for the query. I have gone through the details given. Your overall information is very general. There is no mention of actual readings of any of the parameters, like blood glucose (fasting, PP & HbA1c%), BP readings and pulse rate. Without those details it is difficult to comment. If she has any symptoms related heart other than irregular beats, better to get an ECG as well as an echo cardiogram done. You have mentioned diabetes is in control, but no details are there. It essential to maintain FBG<100 mg. PP 160 to 170 mg & HbA1c%<7. Thanks.
