My Hus 38 years went to Dr. to consult for cold when checked found bp as180/100 Dr. prescribed medicine n after three days it came down to 144/85 so is there a matter of concern. I would also like to know if a person is going to get heart attack after showing symptoms how long it will take to identify weather it is attack or not. Same doubt about stroke how long will symptoms last to identify.

Onset of hypertension is possible after 18 years of age. It is generally a life long condition and if treated appropriately, can help prevent lethal consequences especially stroke, heart attacks, blindness and renal failure. Both strokes and heart attacks have symptoms that come on abruptly.
