I was on krimson 35 from november. Doctor prescribed me to start from 5th day of the cycle. But did not remember if I have started from 4th or 5th. Pill pack ended timely and bleeding occurred in the 7 day break. I again started dec pill pack from the 5th day of period (may be the gap was 8 days. My dec pill pack ended on 24th dec (usually take the pill from 9-11 pm at night. Never missed any pill. On 25th dec partner rubbed his unprotected genitals on my butt (no intercourse, no ejaculation, he went to toilet before the act). Bleeding occurred from 28th dec-2nd January. Again started jan pill pack from 5th day. This time the gap was 7 days. And I took the pill on same time each day. Pill pack ended on 21st jan and bleeding occurred from 25th January to 29th january. Every time bleeding was light on the first day and got heavier on third day and from fourth day night it becomes lesser and it comes regularly on 4th day of stopping pill. No sex activity after 25th dec. Is their any chance of pregnancy since I had certain confusion with November pill regarding the pill free interval. Since no ejaculation or intercourse, will it be able for sperms in precum to make you conceive? Is their any risk of conceiving?

DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), MBBS
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Do not worry. There does not seem to be a chance of any pregnancy from wtever history you hv provided. But if you want to be very safe and sure about not conceiving then you shud be starting yur pill from day 1 and not day 5. If you hv any confusion in understanding this you can contact me.

Hi lybrate-user. Do not worry. U shud increase the amount of green vegetables in yur diet. That wud help. Try having a cup of warm milk at bedtime. Also there are sum medicines for this kind of a problem which can be prescribed. These are safe and do not have any side effects and most importantly. These are not habit forming. So if yu are keen you can get back to me for a prescription.

I had sex before 4 month . And my period was coming on time but this full month my period do not came . Is there is any chance to b pregnant.

DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), MBBS

From the history that you have provided. A pregnancy is unlikely. But you should do a blood test called serum b-hcg. This will confirm if there is a pregnancy or not. Then we can figure out other causes of missed periods. Do not wury. It can be tackled.

HOW TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE PCOS?

DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), MBBS
Gynaecologist, Mumbai

How to know if you have PCOS?

There is no single test to diagnose PCOS. There are many myths about PCOS. Some common signs and symptoms to look for are:

Irregular menstrual cycles
Irregular periods also called Oligomenorrhea
Weight gain, overweight (difficulty losing weight)
Difficulty losing weight
Excess hair growth on face and body- called Hirsutism
Darkened patches of skin
Skin tags
Infertility
Thinning hair
Insulin resistance
Type 2 diabetes
High cholesterol and high triglycerides
High blood pressure
Cysts on the ovaries(multiple)
Pelvic pain
Depression
Anxiety
Sleep Apnea(when breathing stops for a short period of time while asleep)
Decreased sex drive
Increase in stress levels

What one should try and understand is that out of these battery of symptoms which are listed above not all but a few would be present in an individual. If you as a patient compare yourself with another PCOS patient, some symptoms would overlap and some would be unique to you.

PCOS has become very common these days no doubt but it should not be over-diagnosed either. If you feel that you have any or many of these symptoms please consult your doctor.

I am 19 years old and my marriage was on 30 april 2016 and I am having unprotected sex with my hubby till now 27 /06/ 2016. Still i did not get pregnant? Please suggest.

Improve And Maintain Your Bone Health With Regular Calcium Supplements.

Improve And Maintain Your Bone Health With Regular Calcium Supplements.

The younger generation in today's times indulges in a lot of junk food. It has become a trend and parents are forced to give in to the kids' demands. What we can do for our children especially  girls is try and compensate in whatever way possible.

The easiest way is to start giving calcium supplements on a regular basis to girls right from 15 years of age. This will improve bone health and prevent various problems in future.

Also all women should take regular calcium supplements after 30 yrs of age.

Very importantly one should consume minimum 3-4 litres of water (fluids) and maintain adequate hydration levels when on calcium supplements to prevent formation of kidney/ urinary stones.

Calcium supplements should be taken for 3 wks and then a one week gap and then again for three weeks and then a week's gap.

This keeps it convenient and saves the monotony of daily consumption. Also prevents overdose and makes it easy to remember.

Due to menstrual irregularities, I have started consuming Apple cedar vinegar. Also I used it for hair too. But after consuming I got rashes or Hindi I can say its luk like ghamori. Wht to do? Do I need to stop consuming it.

DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), MBBS
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Yes please do stop. It is better to not take it. You can stop it for a week and see if the rashes improve. Then restart and see if the rashes reappear.

I had unprotected sex and took an Emergency contraceptive approx. 33 hours after. 9 day after this started bleeding even though my period is not due for at least another 6 days. Internet says it's breakthrough bleeding but it says that happens even when you are pregnant and now I am super scared. What are the chances I got pregnant when I had sex for like 7 minutes and nobody climaxed?

DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), MBBS
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Hi lybrate-user, do not panic. An episode of bleeding after I -pill is almost always there. This is because the i-pill disturbs the inner lining of the uterus. This is an indication that the i-pill has worked. But there is a possibility of your next period being delayed and then you again start panicking. What you can do is. Wait for another week. If you do not get a period by then. Do a blood test called serum b-hcg. Send me the report. This will clearly tell us if there is a pregnancy or not. Then we can discuss further.

I am 30 years old. I got intimated last night. My husband ejaculated little sperm outside Then I gave him oral and we had sex without protection. Is there a need to take Ipill? And even I had missed my periods this month. Did home pregnancy test shows negative? Do taking ipill is harmful? Plzz suggest.

DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), MBBS
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
yes it is better that you take it. but if this is a regular practice then you better take cyclical contraceptives rather than i pill every time.
