Will a person with Type 2 diabetes under control end up with the need for insulin?
Ask Free Question
Hello, If the Type -2 diabetes patient controls his blood glucose levels very well by following a strict and healthy lifestyle (by good diet and exercise) and by taking medications as prescribed, it is possible for that patient to avoid insulin later on. But having said this, a very small minority of patients despite adequate blood glucose control may need insulin later on. This is because their pancreas have stopped producing insulin as the condition progresses. But this is in a small minority of patients only. Majority of well controlled diabetics can lead the rest of their lives on oral medications. Hope this helped you. Thank you.
