You are overweight and need to lose weight. As one loses weight, along with the fat, there is alos loss of muscle. Therefore one must increase protein intake while reducing calorie intake and increasing exercise along with strength training. Taking supplements is not recommended without consulting a doctor. Hi, Any supplement is only effective till you use it. Thus its impact is temporary. Also L-Carnitine acts as a fat burner. However there are no concrete studies of its benefits in fat loss. Also a caloric restrictive well balanced diet with physical activity is the best way to lose fat in the long run. Natural protein sources like meat,Fish,Poultry and milk do have carnitine in them.

There are no major side effect known for carnitine but you should continue weight loss program without carnitine.
