I am 24, male. A year or two before I faced this problem of frequent urination, mostly at night. But then it went away on its own. Then, like 2 months ago it happened again with some irritation and burning sensation somewhere the near pelvis. A doctor prescribed me silodosin 4 mg (1x), flavoxate (1x) and nitrofurantoin 100 mg (2x). After taking the dosage for 2 days I had my usg done which was normal. So I just had nitrofurantoin for one more day and stopped the whole medication. But then it occurred again and this time nitrofurantoin is not working (took it for 3 days now) and the burning sensation and frequent urination is more severe. I am experiencing sleepless nights bcz of frequent urination, burning sensation. I can also hear and feel some gurgling sounds near the pelvis. Please help.

Dear lybrate-user, from the details you have provided, it seems like you may have urinary tract infection. You haven't mentioned if you have done urine examination or not. If it is not done, get a urine routine examination done and random blood sugar level. If infection os there, you should go for urine culture and sensitivity report to know which antibiotic will work best for your infection. I think this is recurrent urinary tract infection treated inappropriately. Now get your urine routine/microscopic & culture /sensitivity test done before taking any antibiotics.

You should check your urine routine tests again to know whether there is any infection. After your give urine sample start nitrofurantoin 100 mg twice daily for seven days along with sildosin. Add syrup cital 3 teaspoons three times per day after meals. It is advisable to meet your doctor at earliest.
