Dear sir / madam, I had sex with a prostitute 3 days back and from that day itself I started suffering from sore throat and like common cold. I jst taken antibiotic for throat bcuz I had sore throat since my childhood so m nt that afraid of that fact! for my surety I had gone to have HIV and VDRL tests and I found evethng is fine. So need ask from sir/madam. May I have HIV. OR in near future. I was fully protected at the time of sex. We had jst intimated and one to two kisses and we had exchnge our saliva too so. For surety does I m safe or not. please Plz please plz. Help. Bcuz I m not goin do this again!

Hello, having sore throat immidiately after contact with the sex worker doesn't mean that you have hiv. Hiv is a viral infection transmitted by various routes inxluding sexual contact. There is an incubation period after virus enters into the body & affects immune system. The phases of hiv infection include acute infection in which patient experience flu like symptoms followed by carrier stage in which there is no symptoms & finally aids. It takes around 10 years to get full blown aids. With regards to your hiv test, as I mentioned once virus enters the body, it develops antibody to virus which is detected by the hiv test & this takes time. It is advisable to repeat the test at 6 weeks & 6 months after suspected exposure. The presenting sore throat could be just a viral or bacterial infection.
