Hello Doctor, I have small hiatal hernia and gerd problem as diagnosed in endoscopy. I was suffering from the heartburn, burping and acidity from the past year. I took medicine (sompraz D40, Rifagut, Gaviscon syrup) for that and I get good relief from medicines (no heartburn but sometimes reflux happens). My doc said there's nothing to worry and it can be easily self controllable. But when I stop medication, after a day it starts again. Generally, I get heartburn after an hour of meal in day times. I tried managing it with lifestyle change started taking smaller meals but it doesn't help much. Sometimes even a bowl of oats or banana give Me heartburn. If I take smaller meals then I get little heartburn but whole day. In short if I take full stomach meal I get strong heartburn after an hour of meal of take smaller then whole day little heartburn but that also becomes painful. I just want to understand what exactly My problem is? Is reflux surgery only option? And if it's small hiatal hernia then why I am suffering this much. Please suggest. I am frustrated with it. Thanks.
