I am having total cholesterol is 175, triglyceride is 362 and vldl is 71. I have concerned doctor and prescribed me to take feno-tg once a night to lower the trygleride and vldl and alternatively am doing exercise every day 30 minutes. I have completely stopped non veg food and oil food and smoking. Weather I can continue same tab for a month for lower the triglycerides and vldl or exercise is more sufficient? If I take tab is there any side effect or needs to continue full time when cholesterol raises? Is there any risk if total cholesterol is desirable and triglycerides and vldl level is high?

Dear lybrateuser, - You have to carry on taking the tablet along with exercise & dietary changes - triglyceride & vldl level has to be monitored & then consult your treating doctor whether to change the dose or medication as per the progress - a high level of triglyceride & vldl can cause atherosclerosis ( deposition of fats in the blood vessel lining & heart) & blockage of blood supply to the vital organs like heart & brain - have a well balanced diet with more of fibre containing foods such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains instead of refined ones, protein foods such as eggs, milk & milk products, beans, lentils, soy products, tofu, nuts.
