I am having depression since one year and on medication for the same. I am taking 5 mg of clonafit plus at the bed time. Next half day I feel gud but after that a severe pain in chest occurs. Problem in breathing also occurs for seconds only. I got tensed and scared of anything now a days unable to do household work. Sometimes I talk to myself and start crying. I am not been able to overcome from my depression. Kindly help me.

Dear Ms. lybrate-user, I went through your query in detail and from what you have mentioned, it is clear that despite being on medicines, you are still having the symptoms of depression. The medicines that you have mentioned consists of two salts, an anti depressant Escitalopram and a sedative Clonazepam. Youu haven't mentioned how long you have been taking this tablet. If it has been more than two weeks, had I been your psychiatrist I would have considered increase in dose of the antidepressant. The best way forward will be to talk to your psychiatrist and discuss with him the option of increasing the dose. You can also consider adding psychotherapy sessions which will help you recover.
