Erectile Dysfunction - Treatment, Procedure And Side Effects

What is the treatment?

When a male faces problems with getting or continuing to keep an erection during sexual intercourse, he may be suffering from erectile dysfunction (ED). ED may result because of an underlying health issue such as heart disease, thus the problem should be discussed with a doctor as soon as possible.

As per the causes and extent of the problem the doctor will recommend a type of treatment which may include oral medication, penis pumps, penile implantation and even surgery. Psychological counseling is recommended to men who are suffering from stress and anxiety. Low self-esteem may also lead to ED. Counseling effectively helps men solve their mental health issues and overcome ED.

Oral medication may include drugs like Viagra, Cialis, Stendra, and Levitra, which enhance the nitric oxide effect in the body, thus improving blood flow in the penis. The dosage of the medicines will vary from individual to individual. These medicines do not aid in immediate erection, as they aren’t aphrodisiacs. Some form of sexual stimulation is necessary to trigger the release of nitric oxide and cause an erection.

Self-injections and Muse therapy, as well as testosterone replacement options, can also be suggested by doctors.

How is the treatment done?

In the case of Muse therapy, a special applicator is used to insert a small alprostadil suppository into the penile urethra. This should be inserted into the penis before intercourse. It takes about 10 minutes for the medicine to do its work and the erection may last from 30 minutes to 60 minutes.

Testosterone replacement treatment is recommended for men who suffer from ED because of low levels of testosterone. The replacement of testosterone is generally done through injection or application of a patch. It may also be taken in gel or gum form.

A penis pump, which is also known as a vacuum erection device is situated just over the penis. The hollow tube is generally battery powered or hand powered. Once the pump is placed it removes the air from inside the device, creating a vacuum that triggers blood flow to the penis resulting in an erection. A tension ring is then placed at the penis base to keep the erection in place. The ring should be removed once intercourse is done.

Penile implantation is done through a surgical procedure in which the implants are located on two sides of a man’s penis. The implants may either be inflatable rods or semi-rigid rods. This form of treatment is very rare and is done only after other types of ED treatment have failed.

Who is eligible for the treatment? (When is the treatment done?)

Erectile dysfunction can affect men at any age. Usually, older men tend to face this problem more than younger men. Men of all age can seek treatment for ED.

The treatment for ED generally depends on the diagnosis and will vary from individual to individual.

Who is not eligible for the treatment?

Depending on the health and certain other factors a doctor will advise a certain form of treatment to cure ED. While a type of treatment like oral medication may work for one patient, another may require a surgery.

Are there any side effects?

Treatment for ED is safe, but there may be few side effects such as:

  • Oral medication can lead to headaches, backache, changes in vision and stomach problems.
  • Self-injections can result in pain around the area where the needle is injected, bleeding and development of fibrous tissue around the injected area.
  • Side effects of muse therapy include slight urethral bleeding, pain and fibrous tissue formation.
  • Surgery as a treatment for ED is very rare and can lead to severe complications like infection.

What are the post-treatment guidelines?

Post-treatment patients generally are asked to make changes to their lifestyle. This includes a balanced diet and regular exercise. They are advised to quit smoking and reduce intake of alcohol.

How long does it take to recover?

Treatment for ED is generally in the form of oral medication which needs to be taken according to prescribed guidelines. Recovery after penile surgery takes about 2 to 4 weeks. One can resume sexual activity in about 6 weeks’ time.

In the case of ED due to stress or anxiety, individuals seek psychotherapy and recovery as and when they distress and learn to relax.

What is the price of the treatment in India?

The cost of treating ED varies upon the kind of treatment one is seeking. It generally ranges from Rs 25,000 to 40,000 and even more in some cases.

Are the results of the treatment permanent?

While effects of surgery and penile implants may be permanent, oral medication needs to be taken as and when a male who suffers from ED wants to indulge in intercourse.

What are the alternatives to the treatment?

A number of alternative treatment for ED are also available. These include:

  • Nutritional supplements
  • Herbal medication
  • Acupuncture
  • Group therapy
Safety: High Effectiveness: High Timeliness: Low Relative Risk: Low Side Effects: Low Recovery Time: Medium Price Range: Rs. 25000 - Rs. 40000

Erectile Dysfunction - Factors That Put You At Risk!

If a survey is done for the most common male sexual problem, the outcome would be erectile dysfunction. Commonly referred to as ED, it is a major problem for the male but it can be treated in simple ways.
By definition, ED is the repeated inability of a male to achieve and/or maintain an erection for a healthy and satisfying sexual relationship. The key word here is “repeated” as a quicker erection or softer erection is very common in many men, which could be a one-off instance and caused by transient factors like stress or lack of sleep. When this happens repeatedly, then it needs attention.

Symtoms: Erectile dysfunction is when:

  1. Erection is too soft, not allowing for sufficient penetration and prolonged intercourse
  2. Erection duration is very short
  3. There is difficulty in arousal

Risk factors: ED has been noted to be commonly seen in people, who have following behaviours:

  1. Smoking
  2. Obesity
  3. Advanced age (>60 years)
  4. Excessive alcohol abuse
  5. Sedentary lifestyle with no exercise
  6. History of diabetes
  7. Hypertension
  8. Atherosclerosis
  9. History of groin surgical procedures for prostate, bladder, etc.

Causes: ED has both physiological and psychological reasons.

  • Most common psychological reasons are strained relationships, performance anxiety, and other life stressors.
  • Physical causes include reduced hormone levels and other chronic medical conditions like obesity, diabetes, and hypertension.

Diagnosis: While ED is easy to diagnose medically, the truth is that not many would be forthcoming for a diagnosis. Given that this issue could be a jolt to the “manhood,” it is often not brought out in the open for discussion. Once that is done, the following steps can help in diagnosis.

  1. Medical history and specifically sexual history
  2. Check for genital abnormalities
  3. Blood testosterone levels
  4. Other vitals including blood pressure, sugar, and cholesterol levels to identify overall health

Management:

  1. Sexual counseling involving the couple. Once they open up and get comfortable, the problem vanishes. Performance anxiety which is a major cause is taken care of, and ED is no longer an issue. Aligning the couple’s expectations also is very essential.
  2. Hormone supplements, both locally applied and taken into the system, help to a great extent
  3. Lifestyle changes like quitting smoking, moderating alcohol abuse, healthy eating habits, and moving away from sedentary lifestyle helps treat ED
  4. Medicines like Viagra are very useful for occasional cases of erectile dysfunction

As a last resort, there are advanced options like pumps, vacuum devices, implants, and surgical options, and implants. These are often not required, as in most cases, sexual counseling and hormone therapy help in managing ED. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can ask a free question.

Causes and Role of Counselling in Treating Diabetes and Erectile Dysfunction

Causes and Role of Counselling in Treating Diabetes and Erectile Dysfunction

Diabetic men usually are prone to suffering from erectile dysfunction, i.e., they are unable to maintain an erection while having sex. If you are suffering from diabetes for a long time, your nerves and blood vessel might get damaged. That will cause you to suffer from erectile dysfunction. Almost 35% to 75% diabetic men suffer from erectile dysfunction. This situation becomes more serious with age.

Causes: It involves various factors like impairment in the nerves, blood vessels, and also cause problems in proper muscle functioning. You need healthy blood vessels, nerves, as well as healthy male hormones and sexual desire to get an erection. Diabetes damages the nerves and blood vessels responsible for an erection. So even if you have the required amount of hormones and the desire, you might not be able to get a proper erection.

Treatment: If you are suffering from diabetes, and have a condition of erectile dysfunction, then the most common treatment for you is Sildenafil. Other medications, which you can take are tadalafil, avanafil, and vardenafil. But keep in mind that if you have any heart problems, then you should refrain from taking any of these medicines as they will further complicate situations for you. Consult your doctor in this case to know which will be the best treatment for you to cure erectile dysfunction. Other treatment methods are as follows:

  1. Intracavernous injection therapy
  2. Vacuum erection devices
  3. Venous constriction device
  4. Intraurethral therapy
  5. Penile prostheses

The dosage of these medicines depends upon weight of the patient as well as presence or absence of other co-morbid conditions like hypertension, dyslipidemia, cardiac problems, kidney/liver diseases, etc. Prescription of these medicines also depends on the other medications that the patient is taking as these ED medicines have a lot of adverse drug-interactions. Hence, one must always consult a doctor before starting these medications.

The Role of Counselling for Treating Erectile Dysfunction:

Erectile dysfunction can be caused by psychological factors and once a man experiences erectile dysfunction it can have a major impact on their emotional well-being. A man may feel a loss of manhood, a loss of confidence, low self-esteem, angry and depressed and it may also affect his relationship or sexual encounters. Therefore, counselling is a crucial part of treatment in order to address these issues.
Does psychosexual counselling work?

Psychosexual counselling is most effective when a man's sexual partner is willing to be part of the treatment. Studies have shown that for men with stress-related ED, when the partner is involved in the therapy, the problem is resolved 50%-70% of the time. When the man must go through counselling alone, the results are less successful.

Psychosexual counselling is unlikely to work if a man drops out of treatment after just one or two sessions.

Sometimes, several sessions of psychosexual counselling can be helpful if a man is due to receive medical or surgical treatment for ED. A counsellor can help guide a couple towards agreeing on treatment, or help them improve their sexual communication and lovemaking skills. A man may benefit from counselling on his own regarding how to talk to his partner about penile injections or a vacuum constriction device, which are both treatments for ED. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor.

It might be hereditary or the result of a deviated nasal septum or blocked nose. The snoring might hamper the quality of sleep.

4. BedwettingThis is something most children experience, but usually grow out of by the time they turn six. It doesn’t need to be a cause of concern unless the frequency doesn’t reduce over time and more than two instances of bedwetting take place in a week.
5. Insomnia in children: It can be due to a host of factors and coping with changes to their normal lifestyle is one of the biggest triggers. Mental disorders such as anxiety and stress due to a variety of reasons (like the death of a loved one) may also be the cause of distress and lead to troubled or incomplete sleep.
6. Excessive daytime sleepinessExcess naps throughout the day, always feeling lethargic or experiencing trouble waking up in the morning may be symptomatic of EDS. It isn’t uncommon in adults either wherein despite apparent proper sleep; energy levels seem to be low throughout the day. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor.

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a condition in which man has trouble in keeping or getting an erection. It is a common male sexual dysfunction. It becomes more common as you get older but it is not a part of aging. MECHANISM OF ERECTION An erection starts in the brain. Physical and mental stimulation is required for an erection to begin. This stimulation causes nerves in the brain to send chemical messages to nerves which are present in the penis which results in the free flow of blood into the penis. This leads to high pressure in the penis which in turn traps the blood within both corpora cavernosa and then the penis expand. This causes the penis to sustain an erection. When the inflow of blood is stopped, then it opens outflow channels and then penis becomes soft. Then an erection is said to be reversed. CAUSES OF ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION Erection is a complex process which involves hormones, brain, emotions, muscles, nerves and blood vessels. Hi, I have been going through a nightmare with my body more so my colon over the past year. Back on May 17th of 2017 I was rushed to the hospital due to sepsis shock due to an infection that never showed it self. Lucky I survived, but been having issues since then. Since the infection in May of 2017 I been having unformed stools ranging from very soft to watery. About 30% of my bowel movements have contained blood. Over time they have appeared to be getting more flat and a lot of mucus on the soft ones. I been tested and have chronic disease and ulcerative colitis with diverticulosis. Now keep in mind this has been going on since May of 2017. Now on June/July of 2018 I been on a month long of antibiotics total of 7 different antibiotics and on aspriso. On September 16th of 2018 I went to the ED and had a cat scan done and it came back saying I have a decompress colon with intramural fat deposits throughout. They also did a c-diff test done and tested positive. I was in the hospital for 2 days and on vancomycin 2.5 ml every 6 hours for 10 days. Still having soft/watery stools with blood. On September 21st of 2018 I went back to the hospital where they did blood work and another cat scan. The radiologist has stated “ no acute findings in the abdomen or pelvis to explain patients pain”. But they know I have colitis, chrohns, and diverticulosis. There findings that day he said on the report has shown diverticulosis and also now bilateral uncomplicated fat-containing inguinal hernias. They never tested again for c-diff. I was sent home. On October 3rd of 2018 I went back to the ED at this point the vancomycin has been done and still the same symptoms. They tested for c-diff after I have argued with them. The test camp back positive within 27 min. I’m admitted again. They give me flagyl then vancomycin again. They did urine test and it came back with high protein and RBC but nothing else done with that. Then they did another cat scan that now came back with bowel wall thickening in the sigmoid part of my colon. 2 days later I’m discharged and sent home on a tapering vancomycin. I’m still having bloody soft/watery stools. But now I keep getting “ everything is fine there is nothing wrong”.

Dear user. I can understand. Please don’t panic. You must understand PREMATURE EJACULATION. Premature ejaculation is diagnosed when you have premature ejaculation within one or two minute of sex, continuously several times with the same partner for over six months. There is nothing called premature ejaculation while doing masturbation. Premature ejaculation occurs when a man ejaculates sooner during sexual intercourse than he or his partner would like. Premature ejaculation is a common problem which happens due to psychological stress and anxiety in majority of people. I suggest sex therapy and sex counseling for you.

I was sexually active in my previous relationship with approximately 2-3 encounters a month. After the breakup I was in a stress and didn't indulge in any kind of sexual behaviour for the next 2-3 months. Now when I tried masturbating, I couldn't get my penis completely hard and erect. I've heard that erectile dysfunction may be caused because of stress and no sexual activity. Kindly help.

Dear lybrate user. Please don’t panic. You must understand ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION. There is nothing called erectile dysfunction while having masturbation. Loosing erection in the initial stages of sex or not having erection at all or having late erection or lack of sexual desire are called erectile dysfunction. Erectile dysfunction can be a sign of a physical or psychological condition. It can cause stress, relationship strain, and low self-confidence. I suggest sex therapy.

The main symptom is a man's inability to get or keep an erection firm enough for sexual intercourse. Patients suffering from erectile dysfunction should first be evaluated for any underlying physical and psychological conditions. If treatment of the underlying conditions doesn't help, medications and assistive devices, such as pumps, can be prescribed. Yoga, meditation and diet could be prescribed once we know the basic reasons for it. Two natural treatments for ED that have shown promise are red ginseng and pomegranate juice. Ginseng is thought to increase nitric oxide production, leading to improved blood flow. Pomegranate juice is a potent antioxidant and can help too. Watermelon could also help. Psychological reasons usually get cleared with sex therapy. I suggest online sex therapy. Take care.

Erectile Dysfunction
Here are types, causes and treatments of erectile dysfunction.

Hello viewers I am doctor Rahul Reddy. I am a microsurgical andrologist. I deal with the erectile dysfunction and male infertility and all men's problems. Today let us discuss about erectile dysfunction which is very common in all age groups.

So when there is a erectile dysfunction people get panic they visit sort of sexologists unqualified cracks and they get worried. See erectile dysfunction is of four types one the first one is psychological and second one is hormonal erectile dysfunction and third one is Vasogenie erectile dysfunction the fourth one is a neurological erectile dysfunction. So the first two like psychological erectile dysfunction and hormonal erectile dysfunction these are very easy to treat and it can be diagnosed by any urologist. Psychological erectile dysfunction is due to fear our performance anxiety, when a male tries to perform or how intercourse and if he fails he carries this fear to the next intercourse. Instead of going with excitement he is going with fear so obviously he fails. So if this gets carried away then he can never perform.

So most of the young males are they come to us they come to me with this these kind of problems. Generally these are the patients where we put them on medications to give them confidence. Once they perform normally with these medications they get confidence then after that they don't have to use this medications on a regular basis. Coming to second type of erectile dysfunction it is hormonal erectile dysfunction this is commonly seen in various of in young patient and as well as in old patients. Here when we talk about hormones the first hormone we discuss is testosterone. So why this hormone is on the lower side. Commonly the first common cause is lack of exercise.

Second one is stress at work. Third one is sedentary lifestyle and fourth one is lack of proper sleep. The twelve to five is a peak time for Hormone production. So if you are not in deep sleep in this time, then your Hormone production is not normal. Regularly work for 30 minutes a day and eat healthy food avoid junk food and third one you have to avoid anxiety and stress and fourth one you have to be properly sleep early in the night and wake up early morning. So if you maintain these things that testosterone levels will come to normal level and you see change in 15 to 20 days.

Then coming to third form of erectile dysfunction vasculagenic erectile dysfunction here the blood vessels inside the penis or are damaged so because of these damaged blood vessels the blood is not flowing properly into the penis. For what we advise these patients instead of treating the problem it's better to avoid the problem. So alcohol initial days it will give a boost later it will kill your erection. The same time people with high cholesterol have to avoid junk food, they have to regularly exercise, they have to maintain their cholesterol and triglycerides in the normal levels and when it comes the fourth one neurological erectile dysfunction this is very rare. This is commonly seen in patients who had spinal surgery and patients who had accidents so a spinal cord injury.

So if you have these problems just get your testosterone test done and visit a local urologist. Urologists are the right people to find out and treat these patients so ideally for an erectile dysfunction patient the cost of initial evaluation should not be more than six or seven thousand rupees. With the help of lybrate you can book my appointment. You can come to my clinic which is located in Jubilee Hills Hyderabad.

Sexual Dysfunction In Males
Hi friends,

Main Dr. V Kumar life care clinic noida se bol raha hu.

Aur aaj mai kuch khas bimariyan jo sex se related hoti hain unke bare me batene ja raha hu.kyuki maine ye dekha hai prayah usually ye dekha hai jo bachhe mere pas ilaaj ke liye aate hain. unki marriage hone wali hoti hai aur wo kafi nervous hote hain ki unko impotence ho gaya hai ya unke erection ki problem agayi hai aur thik se kadapan unke ling me nahi aata. jisko le kar unko bhari tension rehti hai.aise me wo mere pas aate hain aur maine paya hai usme aur bahut sari situtation me ye bimari, bimari nahi ho kar ek dar aur khauf zada hai. kai bar kya hota hai bachhe jo naukari karte hain jinke pas time ki kami hoti hai to unke par job ka stress hota hai anxiety hai unke upar performance anxiety hai, unke targets hain unhe poora karna hota hai unki sleep poori nahi hoti hai aise me kya hota hai ki un bachho ko bahut pressure hota hai. aur ye jo bachhe hain jinki shadi hone wali hai . jo recently marreied hai to jab unke samne ye sthiti utpanna hoti hai to bahut pareshan hote hain. main ye kehna chahunga jo erectile dysfuction isme 70 % to aisa hai ki psychological apki problems apke dimag me ghumti hai aur 30% ye bimari kis chiz se judi hoti hai jais eabesity hai sharab hai alchohal hai smoking hai ya koi diabetes ki bimari hai ya koi aisi bimari hai jo penis pe hojati hai jiski wajah se circumcsision jaise karwana padta hai . aisi batein jiski wajah se pain hota hai. To kuch chize hain aisi hai jo ki local hain. Jise hum thik kar sakte hain. Aur kuch batein aisi hain jiske liye ilaaj lamba karna padta hai.. an ye dekhna zaroori hai ki kaunsa ilaaj isme hume kab karna hai. To sabse pehle smajhne ki zarurat hai my friends ki aap darein nahi bilkul. Hichke nahi aaiyye mere pas ya kisi bhi doc k paas jaiyye apni poori baat bataiyye aur dhyan poorvak bataiyye aur jaise ilaaj wo batate hain usko aap kariye aapko fayda aap thik ho jaenge.. isme sabse zaruri hai aap kitne apne man ko insab chizo se door rakhte hain. Kaise? Jaise ED ke bahut sare karan hote hain ki admi apne ap ko compare karta hai porn stars se wo watch karta hai porn film me. Wo samajhta hai ki mujhe bhi aise action karna chahiye.

Aur uski tayyari mein wo fail ho jata hai. Isi tarah wo kai bar excessive masturbation karta hai use kya hota hai ki wo chahta hai ki jitni jaldi ho sake ki mujhe jitni jaldi ho sake pleasure point aa jae isse kya hota hai ki uske dimag ka santulan kharab ho jata hai aur fir wo kya karta hai ki wo jaldi se jaldi nikalne ka uska mind set bilkul badal jata hai. Aur fir use lagta hai ki ye to main isko perform nahi kar paunga aur isse usko is tarah ki problem hoti hai. Ye aisi chhoti moti problem jo agar aap aaap thoda sa dhyan counseling me jaein ya kisi sexologist k pas jae doc k pas jaein physicial ke paas jaein to aapko deifinite fayda hoga aur aap thik ho jaenge. Islie aap chinta nahi kariye. You will be safe and fine. Ap agar iske bare me sochenge thoda dhyan denge to apka ilaaj ho jata hai. Ek baat isme or batana chahte hain. Agar apko ye bimari lag gayi hai ho gayi hai. Isme ghabraein nahi. Thoda sa samaya dein thoda sa relationship ko or ache se chalayein ke aap usko ek challenge le kar karein usko ek relationship ko lets go together get together kyuki agar aap sath sath chalet hain to aap agar sath sath chalet hain to usko jeet sakte hain. Jaise yah ape ye laga hua hai together e can together we can conquer. Andhera rasta hai aur lamba rasta jisme ki problem hai us problem ko bhi aap mutual understanding se thik kar sakte hain. To friends mai iske bare me apko apni video jab to mai apko aur bhi kuch jankariya dunga isse zada jo aur jaruri jankariya hain knowlodge information hai. Taki aap usko apne liye video me sun sakte hain bhej sakte hain aur use fayda utha sakte hain. Agli bari mai apko maturbation ke bare mein aur dusra premature ejaculation ke bare me bataenge aur aap uska fayda uthaenge aut mai asmajhta hu ki bahut sari situation me bina ilaaj k thik ho jaenge.

Thank you very much be happy and revive your health and happiness I am doc v kumar from life clinic nodia.
