If your state of mind is hampering your day to day functioning then it is definitely depression and you should consult a psychiatrist for medication. In case you are able to carry out your daily chores despite these feelings, you should consult a psychologist - who can help you see the irrationality of your thoughts, help you enhance your self confidence and help you recognise your strength areas to boost your self esteem.

Dear lybrate user....You attributing yourself to a dead body suggests a much higher degree of negative attribution to yourself. Depression is a broader term usually used if there is persistent and pervasive low mood, lack of interest, lack of confidence and concentration, disturbed sleep and appetite. And these symptoms should be present for a considerable period of time say 2 weeks. But yes if you are having suicidal thoughts warranting admission even lesser days of illness can be attributed to depression. In my perception you need an urgent professional exploration of your illness. I hope you take a step in right direction. Take care
