Dear lybrate-user, I suggest you must combine medical treatment with therapy to ideally combat depression. Seek a counselor who is well versed in treating depression to get you to develop skills and techniques to deal with the daily challenges that life throws at you. Medication does not give you these adaptations but it certainly addresses the chemical imbalances in the brain to bring about normalcy.also amey, without your doctor's intervention please do not alter your prescription on your own. Your doctor will be the right one to decide about your medications.all psychotropic drugs have side effects and cannot be avoided. If you discuss the discomfort you are having with your doctor, he could tweak the medication or dosage to lighten the effects. That will be a good manner of going about it. Apart from that, you must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, and wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, eat more of proteins, nuts, and vegetables, attend yoga classes, etc. Watch a lot of sitcoms on tv or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it, and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least 30 minutes but not in the scorching heat.whatever happens please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three things, lots of things will go well in life. I'm confident that you will fight it & get over it soon. We are here to support you with our therapeutic approach. Feel free to get in touch. regards
