My father who is 87 years old. And is suffering from diabetes and bp for last 30 years. He is prescribed met xl 50 and clopilet75 in the morning and stamlo 10 and zivast 5 in the evening. His ecg is normal except sinus tachycardia. Whether clopilet has any side effect as he has much weakness and require hand holding for walk. whether he will have to take clopilet75 for life.

You have given description of drugs being taken for hypertension, nothing about his diabetes (either the treatment or glucose levels as well as hba1c%). Usually if blood glucose is not in good control (fasting closer to 100 m, pp 150 to 170 mg & hba1c% < 7%or just around 7%), then the person is invariably in very good health. Tablet clopilet 75 is given for maintaining the proper blood flow in the coronary (blood vessels supplying the heart) vessels. That is unlikely to cause any weakness. So please look at his blood glucose levels and inform. Thanks.
