A major cause of tooth sensitivity is root exposure. Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need cleaning along with desensitizing procedures and / or artificial enamel filling and / or root canal treatment. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. You may consult me in person. Until then apply a desensitizing paste (sensodyne tooth paste) on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min until you brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight will be better. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person.

lybrate-user ji reason of cold senstivity could be many reasons I would advice you to visit the dentist. Dentist will find out the reason for sentivity if its because of cavity then in that case either filling or rct but to give you more detail answer you need to send a picture of tooth, tell the which tooth, detail of tooth pain when it started, when did you notice it first, does it radiate to ear head, also you got to do a xray of the tooth and send it to me then only I can give you the best treatment. Meanwhile you can do sensodyne rapid relief tooth paste, apply for 60 seconds then brush or sanquel f toothpaste or vantej toothpaste which ever is available but let me aware you, doing this toothpaste is temporary solution you need first find out the real reason of cold senstivity.

Cold water sensitivity can be treated by desensitizing toothpastes like hydent k. Cold water sensitivity in specific tooth or teeth can be due to problems which require clinical diagnosis like abrasion, attrition or cavitation, which require simple restoration with tooth coloured composite resin material it is painless and single visit procedure, and if the depth of cavity is large then you may need root canal treatment which is also painless procedure as done under local anesthesia but may or may not require multiple visits for complete treatment followed by crown to give the tooth strength. So try the toothpaste for 2 weeks and if still problem persists visit your dentist and get clinical diagnosis done.
