My mother aged 45 just couple of days back fell sick n sugar rose to 270 and after the tests the results showed that she has got diabetes. Ever since the news she has been feeling stressed and tensed about her health and so am I worried. What should be done since its the initial stage can something be done to prevent it from increasing. What measures must be taken to prevent it from spreading. Request you all for a proper guidance.

This is a lifestyle related issue and it can be surely treated with intensive lifestyle modification program. There is a general approach and a specific approach as per individual patients metabolic profile. Try this general approach (see below) for 4 weeks. If this works then continue. If this is not enough then revert for further assessment and customized approach. By customised approach we can attempt to reverse her diabetes and achieve excellent sugar control without medication. 1. Do not eat anything sugary or sweet. Zero sweetness in diet. 2. Eat plenty of salad in lunch and dinner along with other foods. 3. Do not drink any liquid calorie like cola or fruit juices. 4. Continue brisk walks or jogging for 45 - 60 minutes every day.
