I suggest that you also do some therapy to develop some skills, tools, and techniques to handle life with your ocd. It is important to combine medication with therapy for the best and lasting results. Meet with a counselor to deal with this issue, do visit one as soon as possible. Please take your parents with you to determine the possible developmental issues that may have contributed to this condition. This is a fear-based condition and for some reason you have not been dealing with this childhood fear which has now developed unto these repetitive adaptations to seem to need it for normal functioning. The behavior will then become based on magical thinking and certain rituals will become necessary to do normal things making you believe that either the frequency or the ritual is important to its success. This of course is a fallacy but there will come a time that even if told the truth, your belief will defy any logic and you will continue behaving like that even if it cripples you in your daily routines. It only appears as though some other force is behind these behaviors and that you are compelled to act in this fashion. That is obviously not true but no one can convince you of anything different. The obsession is a repeating thought pattern with no meaningful outcome; and the compulsiveness is the need to act on those obsessions also in a repeated behavior pattern as though you just cannot help yourself. This is all driven by fear and when you are frustrated with it, you will escalate anger over it. Doubt, insecurity, uncertainty, and lack of firm memory will all plague you and increase stress. There are certain behavioral techniques to be implemented and if they work you may get out of this condition rather easily.

Dear lybrate-user, you know that your doctor is trying to address your issues by adding desfax. Please follow his advice and contact him frequently. Escitalopram worked for ocd in you - it can not be withdrawn suddenly. Ocd anxiety is worse than lack of emotions. He might see whether desfax works and withdraw escitalopram. He may even add motivational enhancement therapy (met) or cognitive behaviour therapy (cbt) for you.

Take this for another 20. Days, if no improvement seek a second opinion from a psychiatrist as it can be due to depressive symptoms or brain fogging due to antidepressants. Good luck.

Add two more important things with Medicines: ERP(exposure and response prevention) & CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy). With these; Exercise for at least 1 hour, start eating two bananas every day in the morning, get yourself educated about OCD like reading Books on OCD, i.e. Brain Lock and others, see BBC documentaries and Videos on OCD like BBC?s Extreme OCD Camp, Eat Healthy Food, Drink more water, Cut White Sugar, Stay Busy but make sure you are on a mission to vanish it. And after some days, doing all these will be FUN for you. Seeing yourself getting improved daily is the best thing in the world, and then one day you will find that it is no longer bothering you.

This is a side effect of long term escitalopram use. It’s much more risky to stop or reduce medication as risk of relapse of symptoms is much greater. Try the medicines your psychiatrist is giving you for these or you can go for rtms also.
