How to increase weight during pregnancy. Iam in my 13th week of pregnancy, till now I have not gained proper weight. Is this normal or do I need to consult regarding this issue.

Hi, it seems it is your first pregnancy. It is possible that you are not able to gain weight in first trimester i. E. First 3 months of pregnancy. But now it is a high time to increase your diet and gain weight. As maximum development of baby will occur in second trimester. In third trimester baby's weight will increase. A pregnant woman must consume one meal more throughout the day. E. G. One is eating for 3 times a day. Then she must eat 4-5 times a day. Eat banana, nuts vegetables and juices more. If you have problem of acidity then eat frequent small meals at every 2 hrs. Take enough milk to satisfy calcium required for growth of foetus.

How much weight you put on, depends on your wright prior to pregnancy. For a woman of average built, this is usually 10 to 14 kg, and more for lean and thin ones. Eat a balanced diet, focus on proteins; dal, sprouts, paneer, milk, curd, eggs etc. Make sure you take fruits, vegetables and few nuts daily. Eat more frequently, say, every 2 to 3 hrs and you will put on weight easily.
