Development of a genetic defect during pregnancy due to a random genetic accident, leads to an alteration in the genetic material of the DNA. In such cases the parents are not the carriers of genes which cause genetic abnormalities. Structural and functional impairment in a child can result in such situations. By several tests and genetic screening, these abnormalities can be identified during pregnancy.
