Hello, back in march last year I took antibiotics for an sti. I quickly gained 20lbs and since then my periods have stopped, I have been unable to control my weight or lose anything despite having a very active job, working out and eating a controlled amount of calories daily. I have always been a healthy weight and never had any issues dieting before. I have read online that this could be due to high levels of the cortisol hormone but unsure how I could stabilise it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi lybrate-user welcome to Lybrate cortisol is called stress hormone. No human being can live without some stress. This is normal. But if you are constantly overstressed it can cause diseases like hypertension, obesity, gastric ulcer, diabetes etc. Yoga is best for reducing stress. Please note that you need to get thyroid profile test done please feel free to contact if further information needed.
