My wife is in 8th month pregnancy, recently went through lft. Alp is 429 u/l, rest of the parameters are normal in the test. Doctor advised to take udiliv 300 twice. Is it really required and safe to consume till the due date?

Im assuming you meant alt. There are 2 issues here. A) udiliv is given for raised bile salts in blood, which causes severe itching. And is a safe drug. It will not affect only ast or alt. B) raised alt means liver enzyme production issue. Can be due to fever, infection; pregnancy hypertension, blood and sugar issues etc. There are many reasons. My advice is, if she has no itching, and her bp is normal, and urine tests shows no protein, then repeat the tests in a week if she is symptomatic, more tests will be needed to find out cause for raised liver enzymes and treatment of cause. Please speak to your doctor regarding the same. Take care.
