Sudipta ji, Thanks for the query. First thing is if TSH is between 5.5 or 6 mU/L to 9.9 mU/L, then it is considered as subclinical hypothyroidism and usually no treatment is advocated. Only when some patients have some severe symptoms then treatment is initiated. However, you have already been on Levothyroxine, then it is essential to maintain TSH around 3 to 4 mU/L, at which level almost all the symptoms are in check. I am sure while treatment was initiated certain precautions have been already told to you like 1) Take medication early morning on empty stomach and nothing should be taken for at least 1 hour after that. 2)Avoid soy beans and all products containing soy powder or anything related to soy. 3) Avoid bakery items, foods made with maida and junk foods. 4)Exercise for 1 hour to avoid increase in weight. 5)Increase the intake of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits. Therefore, madam please avoid soy milk. It has antithyroid flavins. If you have any questions please do come back.Thanks.
