I?m a 20 year old female. I have noticed that my right ribcage protrudes a little more than my left rib cage causing my waist to look uneven. Pants are usually longer on my left leg when compared to the right and shirts droop down my right shoulder. I have a bad posture (slouch) as I spend a lot of time on the smartphone/laptop or studying. Is this because slouching or is it something I should be concerned about?

Hi lybrate-user, seems you have habit of living in improper posture which makes your body uneven on shoulder and legs. Here I will suggest you something by which you can correct your posture. A limb length difference may simply be a mild variation between the two sides of the body. This is not unusual. For example, 32 percent of military recruits in one study had a 1/5- to 3/5-inch difference between the lengths of their legs. This is a normal variation. Greater differences in length, however, can affect a patient's well-being and quality of life. In most cases, the bones affected by a leg length discrepancy are the femur (thighbone) and tibia (shinbone). Left)a discrepancy most often involves the femur or tibia.(right)the location of the growth plates at the ends of the femur. Like the other long bones in the body, the femur and tibia do not grow from the center outward. Instead, growth occurs around the growth plates. Growth plates are areas of cartilage located between the widened part of the shaft of the bone (the metaphysis) and the end of the bone (the epiphysis). If illness or injury damages the growth plate, the bone may grow at a faster or slower rate than the bone on the opposite side. What if a good posture means? Postireis the position in whichyou hold your body and limbs when standing, sitting or lying down. To havegood poature meansthatyoineed to be aware of always holding yourself in a way that puts the least strain on your back, whateveryouare doing. A good or proper posture 1. Improves body ailments 2. Improves breathing 3. Improves digestive system 4. Improves memory learning 5. Stops causing low back and neck pain. So having a posture means living a healthy life with big benefits. How to maintain good posture? Your overall goal with posture is to have a ?neutral spine.? a neutral spine retains three natural curves: a small hollow at the neck?s base, a small roundness at the middle back, and a small hollow in the lower back. Below we show you what to focus on to get that neutral spine while standing or sitting. First, we give a full explanation of what to do and why; this is followed by a ?crib sheet? of posture ?cues? to check for throughout the day. To achieve correct posture while standing, the ears, shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles should align in one straight line. To give you a mental image of what good posture looks like, imagine a plumb line running from your earlobe. If you have correct posture, the line would hang straight to the middle of your anklebone. A big issue people have with achieving a neutral spine is getting the shoulders to line up where they should be. Most folks with bad posture have shoulders that round forward, giving them that quasimodo look. If you can?t tell if you?re rounding your shoulders forward, here?s a quick test: hang your hands down by your side. If the backs of your hands face forward, then you?ve got rounded shoulders. If your thumbs face forward, then your shoulders should be aligned for good posture. There are many fellow beings who do not care about maintaining posture and do their jovs without carimg about health issues that arises out of it. Then obviously they face neck pain, lower back pain, shoulder pain, ankel pain, knee pains. Overall I request everyone who reads this article to maintain good posture to avoid unnecesary headache, lungs issues, cervical, low back calf ankles stiffness and pains. Thank you.
