My mother has stones in her both kidneys, two. Months before she is fine and her creatinine levels are also normal, suddenly 2 months back her creatinine went to 6, we consulted nephrologist and urologist and they said it's aki, and due to stones lot of dust was there in kidneys like that, they did pcn immediately and after that it came back to 2, and after pcnl is done one side, it came back to 1.3, still another side pcnl is yet to be done, but sometimes again it's going to 3.5 and if we use cefixime, it's coming back to 2, is it because of infection? Or any other reason?

Hello and good morning stones in the kidney can cause damage to the kidney. This damage is measured by doing serin creatinine levels. Normal levels are upto 1.2 gm/ dl. Stones when completely block the kidney, they cause damage. One of the causes of stone formation is infection in the urine. Stone formation by the kidney is due to imbalance between the water and calcium salts in the urine. It is generally due to an inborn error since the birth. Hence there will be recurrent stone formation. So it is important to follow strict diet control and consume water. The present increase in creatinine may be due to recurrent stone formation. So kindly get ultrasound examination and follow diet control. Regards.
