What's the probability of developing a dry socket after a dental extraction. I understand precautions need to be taken, but how soon can I start smoking again?

Do not smoke at least for first 8 hours. Smoking decreases the blood supply in the affected region which disturbs the healing.

Improper blood supply to the bone or blood clot disturbance in the socket leads to dry socket. You should quit smoking minimum 10 days after extraction.

Dear, if you dont maintain your oral hygiene and dont follow the instructions given by the dentist you are more prone for delayed healing or dry socket. Regarding smoking, you can start once the extraction socket heals completely or probably after 3 or 4 days of extraction.
