I am 19 years old with weight of 52 kgs. I have PCOS. I recently went to a gyno. I told her to prescribe me birth control pills for the treatment since I am sexually active but she insisted that since I don't have any symptoms of pcos other than irregular periods, like obesity or acne. She insisted that I should wait for 3 months to see if pcos goes away on trying non-hormonal medicines and if it doesn't go away then I should switch to hormonal tablets. So, she gave me m2tone syrup along with exermet 500 tablets. But this tablet did not suit me so I went to her again today and she told me to try an ovabless tablet. What should I do? Should I wait or should I switch to contraceptives?

Hello. Your previous conditions mentions migraine headaches which may worsen on oral contraceptive pills. Previous condition also mentions gall stones. Ocp are also associated with slight increased risk of gall stones. So I suggest that you should go with lifestyle modification alone if your periods are regular and no acne, hirsutism. Infact only ultrasound diagnosis of polycystic ovaries is not enough to label you as pcos.
