I fell and sprained my ankle. And I went to ortho doctor and took X-ray. The doctor gave me pain killer and prescribed me ankle braces and asked me to take rest. Two days the pain reduced. The next next day pain increased. What should I do now to get relief from the pain?

It could be because of increased activity on 3rd day, an injury that became overt later (impacted fracture or loose body), increased swelling (dependent position, injury itself or tight braces), massage (if done), rarely vascular injury etc. Best to consult orthopedic surgeon again. Meanwhile, Ice packs, limb elevation, ankle/toe movement if tolerated and crepe bandage.

On the first day, you should apply ice every 20 to 30 minutes, three to four times per day. Afterward, apply ice every three to four hours for the next two days.
