I have an Ulnar Styloid non union. Now my doctor told me that no treatment is necessary even if nonunion of the ulnar styloid is present. But I feel slight discomfort (pain?) while heavy weightlifting and one time I fell on my affected hands while playing soccer and it started paining in the same region although after a few days it went back to being negligibly painful. So my question is will it create any problems in the long run like arthritis, joint deterioration, etc? And is any treatment available for nonunions of the ulnar styloid bone and what, if any complications it may cause. Please help cause I wanna join the Air Force as a pilot and don't know whether or not if this is a significant wrist injury. The injury is in the left wrist. I'm right handed. Age 21, male.

If you wish to join an exacting occupation, it is better to get a procedure done to heal the non-union. Otherwise, if your wrist tolerates your routine activity you may not need it. The risk of further deterioration has to be balanced against the minimal risk in surgery.
