Dear lybrate-user, Now a days, fatty liver is becoming so common that often people don't understand its importance as a symptom. And sometimes even doctors also underestimate the condition. Fatty liver as you may know is fat deposition in and around liver. It is not a disease by itself but a symptom which may indicate some underlying pathology sometimes. In our Ayurveda tradition, we always target the cause of the disease and not the symptom. And as liver can be called as 'biochemistry lab' of our body, fatty liver is the indication of 'overloaded' liver. Now diseases can manifest by two simple reasons, diet and lifestyle, if you don't have history of any infectious liver pathology. So naturally, 1st line of treatment for fatty liver is to manage your diet and lifestyle. Below written points can help you achieve that: 1) Fix the time for meals. 2) Avoid eating, at least three hours after taking a meal. 3) Maintain at least gap of 2 hours between dinner and sleep. 4) Avoid daysleep, unless necessary. 5) Avoid spicy, fried, fermented food, pickles, sour food (sour seasonal fruits can be taken), cold food articles. Most importantly, avoid managing everything by medicines only. Medicines can be supportive in managing diseases but main task is performed by your body only. So, always try to enhance capacity of your inbuilt system. Few Ayurvedic drugs can help you: 1) Aloe Vera Juice (Plain without any added flavour): 25 ml + 100 ml water, in morning, on empty stomach and at night before sleep. 2) Giloy Ghan Vati: 2-2 with above mentioned juice. 3) Arogyavardhini Vati: 1-1 before meals (This drug contains purified metals, avoid if you have any existing kidney problems, and avoid long term use). Apart from this, you may reach me for any further assistance. Get well soon. Dr. Hiren Yagnik Ahmedabad.
