Use an ice pack and an over-the-counter pain reliever such as acetaminophen, aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen. After the inflammation calms down, a heating pad or pack can help soothe muscles and connective tissue. If you have chronic back pain, sleep on a medium-firm mattress. Pay attention to your posture.

HI lybrate-user, At 28 years you should not ignore backache. Kindly consult Orthopaedic Surgeon and according to his advise get an X-ray and if required MRI done. Take proper medicines for proper duration (1 to 1.5 months). Back care is more important. Sometimes L S Belt, Physiotherapy is also required. Ointments and medicines are meant for temporary relief. Rest and Back Care will lead to lasting relief. Sometimes we admit the patient to hospital and give Lumboacral Traction so that a person gets bed rest.
