Hi Doctor, I do not know what I am suffering now. I used to smoke cannabis for past 5 years. I quited it on last nov due increased anxiety. I am under medication bupronian 300, risdone .5 mg and exihress 10 mg. Doea this last forever. Will this leads to mental disease or psychosis.

Once you take any drug like cannabis, it causes alterations in the functioning of the brain. The medication that you are taking will cause no harm but will improve your condition. Kindly don't stop taking medication as it may have a severe consequences. These drugs are not to be taken for life long. It is was a particular time course. Do the complete course.

Cannabis is fat soluble and its effects last longer ,they are not permanent unless you are chronic cannabis smoker, It is not clear why you are on the medications, you are on an anti depressant and an anti Psychotic, cannabis does produce Psychotic symptoms and they do not last long if you have stopped cannabis, medications are required if you have Depression or Psychosis in addition. There is no Medication that can be given to stop Cannabis use and a high level of Motivation is required for it. Please visit your Psychiatrist who may wean you off Medication (If you have no Depressive and Psychotic symptoms) and will teach you methods to arouse your motivation.
