Today, I had a blood test to know my blood group. The lab assistant used a needle to prick the tip of my finger to get blood sample. I asked the lab assistant if the needle was new, as he did not open wrap in front of me, though the needle was secured in a small vessel type of bottle with blue tip to hold the needle. He told me the syringe was new. But I am still in doubt. That I am might be at risk if the needle was used and somehow exposed to blood of HIV positive person. So I request you to please tell me what are the chances of me getting infected. I would again want to inform that the needle was without syringe and was not used to inject just used to prick tip of finger. Please tell my what are my chances of getting infected. I am really tensed thinking about it. Thank you for the help.
