Dear user your father is suffering from cervical radiculopathy. You should seek services of good physiotherapist as it can reduce pain effectively. Second thing is if surgery is inevitable then go for Endoscopic spine surgery. It is very safe and minimal invasive surgery. But try physiotherapy first. He can also do cervical isometrics.
