I am a male unprotected vaginal sex (single) exposer woman in 2016 dec. 8 months Later found she is hiv positive. I am circumcised male. I went to a specialist and got tested at 9 months western blot negative, 11 months and 1 year hiv elisa, 4th generation negative. 15 months rna pcr qualitative not detected, till today tridot negative. Results were all negative. Now the specialist said that HIV can lay dormant up to 5 to 10 years and I could infect people even tho I got negative results and I should re-test once every 6 months for 10 years, yet I have read in these forums that 90-98% of people who are positive will test positive at 3 months and it's rare for HIV to show up after 6 months, can HIV really hide in the body at undetectable levels for 10 years and I could infect someone? I'm confused and would like some clarity if possible please. I would like to start a family but have been afraid I may have been getting false negative result. 1) 15 months post exposure hiv test result are all negative but which reason doctor say hiv lay dormant up to 5 to 10 years. 2) Any further test needed. 3) Where see your experience ofter 1 year result can change. 4) I am 100 % negative or any test needed. 5) Only single unprotected vaginal exposure female to male hiv transmission 100% occur it is true. I am circumcised male.

HIV don't stay dormant for 10 years. Don't worry, you are HIV negative. You can do ELISA TEST FOR HIV after 90 days of exposure. This is 99.9 % accurate and conclusive.

It is not true that the transfer is 100%. PCR test has 100% sensitive in detection, even single gene present in sample gives 100% accurate positive result. It's negative then no need to worry. The dormancy of virus is to develop clinic symptoms not to be detected in PCR test. Relax n be a wise man in future.
