I am suffering from pain and swelling near my Anus outlet, since last 4-5 weeks. It used to bleed also at times during passing stool. I consulted my family doc (general physician) and was diagnosed with hemaroids, he prescribed proctosedyl ointment, daflon tab & thank od tablets, its been more than 10 days but recovery is not happening. Need to know if there is any other medication reqd and any surgery reqd. As now there is no bleeding but stool passing is painful at times and swelling doesn't seem to subside.

Dear Lybrateuser, -Along with medication follow other precautions:- avoid constipation & straining at stools - have more of fibre containing foods like vegetables (4-5 servings per day), fruits (2-3 per day, preferably choose from apples ,pear ,guava, banana, oranges which are high in fibre content), legumes such as beans, lentils, pulses, sprouts, peas, nuts - have plenty of oral fluids including 8-10 glasses of water per day for proper digestion & smooth evacuation - have a tablespoon of syrup Cremaffin at bedtime if stool is hard or evacuation is painful - do regular exercise like walking for 10-15 min twice a day - do not strain & sit for too long at stools.
