Dear lybrateuser, - To reduce triglycerides follow some tips: - reduce intake of trans & saturated fat containing foods - reduce weight if overweight - reduce intake of sugar & carbohydrates in diet - have more of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, monounsaturated fats as in olive oil, canola oil, omega three as in walnuts, flax seeds, sea food as in salmon, mackeral - do regular exercise like walking, yoga, deep breathing to keep fit.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Triglycerides (TGL) 220 mg/100 ml, is not of any concern. There is really no need to take any treatment for that. However, since you are having hypothyroidism, it is necessary to achieve strict control of TSH, it should be maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L, to be free from any of the symptoms of that condition. Uncontrolled or poorly controlled hypothyroidism does affect lipid profile also. Good regulate exercise, weight control and avoiding saturated fats, will help in reducing TGL level. Thanks.
