I have hyperthyroidism. Can I take albendazole, Without gaining more excessive weight. Because I have gained much weight last year after eating this tablet.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Weight gain is the result of hypothyroidism that too when it is not properly controlled. Ideally TSH should be maintained < 3 mU/L, to be free from all the symptoms of that condition. If not then weight gain is one of the main signs. Albendazole is taken as just one dose. It has absolutely no effect on weight. Thanks.
Dear lybrate-user, Albendazole is a medication used for the treatment of a variety of parasitic worm infestations. Until and unless if you are not diagnosed with any of the of the parasitic infestation, you are requested to consult your treating doctor. It should not be taken without prescription.
Albendazole is used to eliminate worms in intestine. It is not directly related to your weight gain. Diet control and regular exercise are mainstay of weight management.
