You might be suffering from "Cough headache" These headaches are caused by coughing or other straining including sneezing, blowing your nose, laughing, singing, crying or having a bowel movement. There are two types of cough headaches- PRIMARY and SECONDARY. Primary cough headaches usually start suddenly just after straining activity, last for seconds to minute, some may last for 2 hours and followed by dull aching pain for hours. They usually affect both side of head and cause sharp, stabbing or splitting pain. Secondary cough headaches often have symptoms similar to those of primary cough headaches but they may have additional symptoms like dizziness, fainting, imbalance and may last longer. Primary cough headaches are usually harmless but secondary cough headaches are more serious, as they can be caused by problems within the brain and require proper treatment. So it's better to consult a neurologist for its evaluation.
