Puffy eyelids are caused by an excess of edema in the eyelids. The condition is also called swollen eyelids. This may be caused by inflammation. The swelling may or may not cause pain in the area. The condition may be noted in both the upper and lower eyelids. Some of the possible causal factors are injury to the eyes, allergies, or infections in the eyes. Puffy eyelids are alternatively called swollen eyelids. The condition may be a sign of more serious health problems that have the ability to lead to impairment of the patient’s vision. Some of these diseases are ocular herpes, Grave’s disease and orbital cellulitis
