The hymen (cherry) cannot grow back once it's been stretched open. The hymen is a thin, fleshy tissue that stretches across part of the opening of the vagina. The hymen can be stretched open the first time a girl has vaginal intercourse. An estrogen-free drug called ospemifene (osphena) acts like estrogen on vaginal tissues. It's effective in making the tissues thicker and less fragile. This can reduce the amount of pain women experience with sexual intercourse.
