A fungus called the Candida albicans causes a fungal infection in the vagina and the disorder is known as vaginal yeast infection. Pregnancy, diabetes, using antibiotics to treat other diseases and obesity are causes of this disorder. Itching feel in the vagina, pain while urinating, irregular vaginal discharge and swelling of the skin outside the vagina are symptoms of vaginal yeast infection. Eating yoghurt, proper genital hygiene and use of condoms during intercourse are preventive measures.
