I was on risdone (2, dicorate (750, inderal la (40) given by a psychiatrist for anger issues. However I recently left those medicines abruptly as I don’t feel the need to continue them. And there seems to be no anger at all ever since then. However I have been having severe headaches since I left these medications.

Dear lybrate-user, I am not sure of the diagnosis. Please talk to your psychiatrist about it. Anger is just a symptom and not a disorder. My guess is most probably you are suffering from a bipolar mood disorder. You had anger in manic phase and now you have headache in depressive phase. Please talk to the psychiatrist so that you get educated about your mood by yourself instead of your parents/caretakers.

Psychologically and emotionally headache is connected with unexpressed anger. It is my opinion that if you sought the help of a therapist and dealt with your anger instead of suppressing it, you could see a lot of change and relief. At your age it is quite significant and I suspect that this feeling may have origins in early childhood that needs to be explored in therapy. Definitely, good vigorous exercise will expend the energy of the anger and give you some relief. Exercise is anyway good for various reasons and must not be discontinued. It is advisable to take your parents to meet the counselor so that they may be able to identify various disturbances that may have impacted the anger. If you are cooperative, I am sure this problem will go away for good.
