Dear lybrate-user, don't lose heart. There are plenty of options for you. First get the diagnosis correct. Then try ssris in very high dose. In psychotherapy, try exposure and response prevention (erp) in multiple sessions - may be for 60-90 minutes. There are plenty of add ons, if necessary.

Hello lybrate-user - ocd is a chronic condition that can be disabling but can be effectively managed with medication and therapy - if you are responding well to clomipramine, discuss with your psychiatrist about optimising the dose to maximum provided you do not experience any side effects - other options if you have not tried before will be sertraline or fluoxetine.- cbt (cognitive behavioural therapy) when combined with medication is very effective - apart from medication and therapy, lifestyle interventions like yoga and regular exercise can also be very helpful. Hope this helps.

Write down your obsessive thoughts or worries. Keep a pad and pencil on you, or type on a laptop, smartphone, or tablet. When you begin to obsess, write down all your thoughts or compulsions. Keep writing as the ocd urges continue, aiming to record exactly what you’re thinking, even if you’re repeating the same phrases or the same urges over and over. Writing it all down will help you see just how repetitive your obsessions are. Writing down the same phrase or urge hundreds of times will help it lose its power. Writing thoughts down is much harder work than simply thinking them, so your obsessive thoughts are likely to disappear sooner.

There are alternative medicines which you need to work with your psychiatrist, and take. There are medicines which keep you active at the same time control your ocd symptoms. Good luck.

Very good. Please continue your medicines with the consultation of doctor you like. For ocd, you need to obey some my advices. Please write in details about your symptoms and history. You also need to write about your daily routine and engagements in different work. Then I can advise you. Write about regular automatic thoughts coming to your mind.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a common mental health problem. Symptoms typically include recurring thoughts and repetitive actions in response to the recurring thoughts. A common example is recurring thoughts about germs and dirt, with a need to wash your hands repeatedly to "clean off the germs" However, there are many other examples like sexual thoughts, counting, checking, orderliness, etc. The usual treatments are cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant medicine, or both. Treatment often works well to reduce the symptoms and distress of OCD greatly. All the best.
