I am suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome since more that 23+ years. Symptoms are occipital headache, cramps, numbness, pain all over the body, unrefreshing sleep, depression, anxiety, mental & physical tiredness. Few of the problems are in very much control with medications, like duvanta, olimelt, acid phos, these are helping in occipital headache, body pain & morning drowsiness. But depressed mood & unrefreshing sleep is not responding to any of the antidepressant, I have tried all the allopathic antidepressant of all class. Please suggest the way forward.

Dear lybrate-user, you are suffering for a long time. Each antidepressant should be tried for maximum dose for a period of 6 weeks at least before saying it is useless. Few antidepressant give partial relief like in your case. You need to add some supplements to increase its effectiveness. Some antidepressants cause your sodium levels to go down, causing more tiredness. Stick to one psychiatrist, make a list of the tablets, their dose, the duration of intake handy. Every now and then newer antidepressants come up in the market. Therapies and supplements are the way forward along with duvanta, olimelt and acid phos.
