I am a teacher by profession. Durt to this lockdown I have to spend several hours on phone and laptop. For last 3-4 days my right eye is twitching very much and most of the times my eyes are watery and itched. This problem has started hampering my routine. Please suggest me some measures.

You may not be getting enough rest and sleep. Eye twitching can be a result of tiredness and stress. Also excessive screen time may be causing dryness and result in discomfort. I would suggest you to take breaks of 20 seconds after every 20 minutes or so and look at 20 ft distance (20-20-20 rule). Also you should get enough hydration and sleep. You can also use a lubricating eye drop and use anti reflection glasses with blue block coating to protect your eyes from the blue light and help you sleep better at night. Hope it helps.

Hi sir. First thing is you need to reduce the screen time i.e the no of hours you use the mobile phone. Due to continuous usage of mobile phone there are few problems 1. Less frequent blinking happens due to which eyes become dry. This dryness is the cause for redness, and discomfort 2. Constant use of mobile leads to constant accomodation of our eye which leads to eye strain. Twiching can happen in such scenarios. So reduce the usage of mobile phone. Use lubricant eye drops. Cold compressions have additive effect.

You must be having computer vision syndrome. Give adequate rest to your eyes. Reduce the time spent in front of laptop and phone. Apply lubricating eye drops in your eyes four or five times daily. Consult an eye specialist to rule out any refractive errors.

Do frequent voluntary blinking do eye exercises every 20 minutesby looking at distant object for atleast 30 seconds keep your laptop at a distance of 20 inches use refresh tears eye drops 4 times a day for one month.

Hello lybrate-user, eye twitching can be caused either by lack of deep sleep, irritation or vitamin deficiency (b complex) to be specific. A lot of patients are having vitamin deficiencies as their diet has been affected by the lockdown plus deficient vitamin d as reduced sunlight exposure. I see that you have a past history of hairfall as well .check your hair for danddruff, as that can very commonly cause watering of eyes. U can out eye drop ocurest or carbazol plus or rediff plus 4-5 times a day for 3 weeks. This along with dandruff control and vitamin supplementation should work the best.

You might be suffering from dry eyes. Overexposure to screens like phones / laptops may be the predisposing factor. Adv 1. Use a lubricant eye drops (carboxy methyl cellulose like component) 3 to 4 times a day or as per need 2. Blink your eyes more often or take rest from screen time in between (don't stress) consult your nearby eye hospital if symptoms persists / redness/ discharge occurs. Take care. Stay safe.

Pls take breaks in between work. Every half hour look away from your screen for at least half a minute, this gives time for your eyes to relax. Also you can use some lubricants and anti allergic eye drops. Wear antiglare glasses while on digital devices.

Overwork on digital platforms as mobile or laptop can lead to problem of dry eye, computer vision syndrome due to which patient feel heaviness, redness,watering in eyes. You should consult ophthalmologist for proper evaluation & management. You can consult online if you are not able to go out due to covid-19. In the mean while stop spending longer hours over mobile and give rest to your eyes after every 20 minutes of digital work. And consult an ophthalmologist at earliest.

Hello lybrate-user. You have strained your eyes due to continuous use of laptop. Follow this steps while using system 1. Laptop has to be placed at your eye level and at a arm distance 2. Follow 20-20-20 rule. Means take a break of 20 secs after every 20 min and look at a distance of 20 feet ,and blink your eyes for 20 seconds 3. Apply lubricant eyedrops 3 tes a day kindly visit our hospital after lockdown for further treatment.
