Sir, recently I got my health check-up done. Hba1c is 6% and avg blood sugar is 125. Recently I have noticed frequency in urination. I was told it is a prediabetes condition. A doc suggested using gluconorm as a preventive measure for two months along with exercise. Is it ok? Please advise.

Hello, thanks for the query. The test results do show you are in pre-diabyic state. Fortunately this is situation which one can reverse and prevent it from progressing to diabetes by adapting a modified lifestyle. That means regular exercise, diet control and maintaining normal body weight. Your present bmi is 26.70 kgs/sq meter (normal < 23 kgs/sq meter). That means you have an excess of of about 10 kgs. That needs to be reduced. Then your glucose level will also be coming down. Taking metformin is helpful. But lifestyle measures are much better option. Thanks.
