My mother has a ligament tear in her ankle from an injury about 8 years ago. She has undergone some physiotherapy, but the injury has remained largely un-treated and the condition of her ankle now is very bad. She is 68 years old. Can the injury be treated now?

Dear lybrateuser, - Corrective measures can always be taken - consult an orthopedic Ian who after investigations will advise accordingly - in the meantime let her wear a ankle support cap, which will help stabilise the ankle injury when she walks - if pain is there give her paracetamol tablet after meals - also a walker can be used as it can reduce direct weight on the ankle while walking.
