We need to know the reason for discolouration. As it may be because of dead tooth also.Other reasons are regular stains, flourosis , due to some medications etc...If dead tooth is a reason you might have to go for root canal therapy and crown a tooth. Some external stains can be removed by professional cleaning also.Otherwise as per Dr Amit Sharma's suggesion you may opt for Whitening or laminates as per need.Â

Visit your dentist for a proper check up so that we can see the exact cause of discoloured tooth, if there is a single toot discoloured and due to necrosed pulp, then go for rct followed by cap, if you have discoloured due to flourosis or some other reason go for veneers and if you have discoloured teeth due to tobacco chewing then cessassion on tobacco followed by bleaching will be a good optionÂ

Discoloration of tooth is usually due to trauma. First thing X ray of tooth is taken to rule out any pathology. If yes Root canal treatment....bleaching, if it does not help then laminate over crown.sometimes if pathology is big may require root surgery.Â

If the tooth discoloration is due to trauma on a particular teeth, root canal treatment and crown is the best optionÂ

Hi, if you have a discolored tooth with a history of trauma, get an X ray done. if the root outline is good and there is no evidence of infection, better to restore it with a zirconia crown if the discolouration is marked. For slight dicoloration laminate ceramic or composite can do the trick. If the tooth is non vital, better to do the root canal and attempt non vital bleaching. I have done non vital bleaching with fairly good results and it is the most conservative method of managing a single tooth discolouration.Â
